Logan Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 There really should be a setting "If the trash can isn't enabled, and a post is deleted do you want the user's post count to decrease?". So an automated feature to decrease the user's post count when their post is deleted and the trash can isn't enabled. Rather than running rebuild user post counts.
ryder Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I agree. Some people say that the post count should be how many posts they've made not how many posts they have currently on the board. But it really should be up to the admin to decided whether they want to feel that way or not.

Admins should have the option to decide between the cumulative post count or the current post count. Personally, for my forums the current post count is basically worthless.
FrostedPopTart Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 That would totally negate the purpose of the post count rebuild tool then...
elj Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 That would totally negate the purpose of the post count rebuild tool then... Well, it would still be kept - in theory you shouldn't need any of the other rebuild tools, but they're still there. +1 to this by the way. :)
ellawella Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 That would totally negate the purpose of the post count rebuild tool then... No it wouldn't, because Logain suggested a setting, not an alteration.
athlonkmf Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 That would totally negate the purpose of the post count rebuild tool then... no, because there are always situation where you need to recount anyway. Like when you decide that one forum suddenly does increase/decrease postcounts?
