RSS is a pretty popular technology, and is especially useful if you have a lot of blogs, forums, or news sites that you check often. Think of it as a link, instead of having to do complex SQL dumps or PHP coding, you can just get the RSS to bring the data in within seconds, its perfect for displaying posts and stuff on your main page and linking them up with your forums.
