  1. File Name: Added Phishing Security for IPB 2.2 [TGFX]
    File Submitter: Ipix
    File Submitted: 17 Dec 2006
    File Category: Modifications

This simple javascript mod generates a pop-up message everytime a link from outside your domain is clicked.

    Example:

A phisher site that is imitating your website's login to steal your member's accounts has posted their link on your site. When a user accidentally clicks on that link, they are notified with a message similar to this one:

NOTICE: the link you just followed is NOT a part of TrueGFX.com. If the page you are directed to looks like it's TrueGFX.com, DO NOT enter your username and password! This means it's a phishing page trying to steal your account, please report this link as soon as possible.

Thus eliminating the element of surprise and making it a whole lot harder for phisher scammers to scam your site. No surprises, no accidents. :)

  2. Well, I suppose we COULD have held up the IPB 3.0 release for the relatively small minority of customers who use subscription manager. However, I think the majority of our customers are glad that 3.0 has been released, minus a feature that is being released separately.

Subscription manager is nearly done. MSSQL is in development. We simply decided to concentrate on the functionality that the majority of our customers need, and hold up ever so slightly the functionality that only a minority of the customers use (but takes a while to develop).

We can't really say anything else about it at this point, nor am I sure what you would like to be said. It's in development. It's almost done. The past is done with, and we can't go back in time to hold things up to include the subscription manager.

In all honesty, the only thing I want out of 3.0.2 is the new cleancut skin. I think that's a big portion of what everyone is hyped about.
  3. I've been around here for a very long time. I've been watching IPS evolve as a company for even longer.

I have to say I am very impressed with the way things have turned out over the years. You guys make occasional mistakes, but they are honest mistakes and you resolve them quickly. You don't take shortcuts and you have the good practice to be fair and polite to your customers no matter what. You have shown yourselves to be the kind of company I will stand behind.

Matt & Charles (and the rest of the contributing staff) you guys have made something really great here. I know sometimes managing a business can be demanding and stressful. I also know that it's alot easier to manage if you know what you are doing matters to others. Well, I'm telling you your software has made life easier for myself and many others, it matters to us!

No one knows what the future holds, but I can guarantee if you keep to your honest business practices customers like myself won't let anything happen to IPS. Not even if the whole world falls to this economic recession.

    Sincerely,
    Aaron
