  1. I realized that members's profiles are ranked separately from the IP.Board on Alexa traffic ranking system.

Now I wonder, if profiles are considered as a separate site, it somehow damages the website's traffic rank (which is important for business, and for any others websites).

    How could this be changed?

Seems a little strange if that's the case, can anybody confirm this?

  2. It's being worked on, and is about to go into Beta 2, so I would presume it will be ready for 3.0.2. As far as I am aware, it will carry over all previous subscriptions from 2.3.6.

There will be an official statement when it is ready, of that I am sure :) .

Yeah, I assumed there would be. I just wanted to know whether all previous subscriptions would be lost if I upgraded to 3.0.1, and whether it would save them if I waited till 3.0.2.
  3. I heard that the subscription manager is not present in 3.0.1, and will be for 3.0.2. I have a few questions regarding this feature. If I was to upgrade 2.3.6 -> 3.0.1, would I lose all my subscribers? If I hold out until the subscription feature is available, will it automatically keep the subscribers and their expiry dates?

    Thanks for your time.

  4. FYI, javascript and AJAX execute in the user's browser, not on the server (well, with AJAX the script that the browser is calling is obviously executed), so you don't generally see server resource increases from such functionality.

That said, IPB 3.0 is likely going to be a little heavier than 2.x, mainly because there's so much new functionality and much more abstracted code. You will definitely see an increased load at first if your site is open, as spiders are following new urls and reindexing content and so forth. It should level out pretty well over time, however. On the whole, after the optimizations we've done to 3.0, I think things are running about the same for 3.x compared to 2.x here.

Thanks for the post bfarber. That eliminates my worries. :)
  5. What's the server performance like compared to IPB 2.3 series? I'm curious because there's a lot of AJAX and Javascript functions present in the new board, and was wondering if administrators are going to see a larger increase in cpu/memory usage when upgrading to 3.0?

    Thanks for the insight. :)
