The above being the case, its extremely likely this is being blocked by your incoming email provider. I would advise on checking this first of all

Actually the issue here is you have a crashed table somewhere in your database. You need to check your database and correct that crashed table

We would not add the facility to downgrade. If you are concerned about there being possible bugs in a release, you could always wait a few days to see the feedback from others on any issues, just as a suggestion.

There seems to have been a problem whereby the upgrader should have run through its processes at the end of application, and hasnt. So thats now been done for you.
