I'd like an easier/quicker way to update your status. Maybe add a little text box at the top of the "Recent Status Updates" sidebar module. That'd be convenient.
Isn't that already there? It was a day ago... -

God I remember IkonBoard....it was quite interesting but IPB was the better product. is iB even still being actively developed? I don't believe it is....
Development is active, but very slow. Supposedly v3.1 or w/e has been promised for more than a year now. -
I miss seeing post icons in the forum view; perhaps it might be possible to add back the post icon column, or at least give the option to? These poor guys have really been swept under the rug as IPB progresses, which I've always found to be a shame. Helps to differentiate topics in forum view, if anything.
The problem is few people used them, and they were often used incorrectly. -
I like how the IPS staff are completely silent about the white skin.
They're hoping people wouldn't have noticed it, most likely. -
I tried out VBulletin for a day or two. Wasn't my thing, as Jmiz said, the Admin CP stinks and plus there was no eye candy at all. You can tell IPB is sleek and plus it has the features and support to back it up, what does VB have? Well I guess you can change the skin, that's one thing. *rolls eyes*
If you gave vBulletin a real demonstration, you would quickly find out that it's templates and skinning systems are just as rich as IPB's. vBulletin is as customizable as IPB is, it just works differently.
Also, eye candy isn't everything, as demonstrated by the "Pro" skin of IPB 2, which cut out all the gradients, multiple colors, etc.
vBulletin is still a very good product and worthy competition for IPB. -
The Administration panel in vB makes me want to puke, reminds me of a really old site. Compare the IP.Board's adminstration panel in 2.3 and vbulletin 3.8, and ipb is a million times better
It's all subjective. People who regularly use vB think that IPB's tabbed approach is horrible, and vice versa.
I've used both and I can honestly say they're equal for the tasks they need to accomplish. I'd even give a slight edge to vB's ACP in certain areas. -
The installation had some stags during the early beta/RC stages, but the gold release was flawless. Everything has been working great so far.

Yes, a bump feature would be useful.

That tutorial at invisionpower is flawed somehow. Likely just outdated. I made the edits suggested, (and yes I've checked them. Twice.) and now the forum looks like the lo-fi skin. With luck I can undo it.
Then I'm going to use the one bfarber linked to here on invision. Hope that works better.....
Yup, happened to me, too. Luckily my installation was stock, so all I had to do was revert the CSS, the template and delete the replace image.
But it seems the updated instructions posted a few posts above mine works properly. -
It's amazingly stable, although I'm sure a lot of people will still wait for the first "point" release.

Out with the old, in with the new. I could never go back to IPB 2.x.

AJAX quick reply vB has is crap, I'd rather have the current quick reply, in fact I would be pretty damn pissed if they added one like vB's... FYI, vB's is glitchy as hell, doesn't update postcounts, causes issues when trying to go back to the last page, etc.
I use 3.7.2 PL1 and it seems to work fine for me. Perhaps you were using an older version of vBulletin?
I wouldn't mind AJAX Fast Reply to be added to IPB 3, but make it an option that is not enabled by default.
"Clean Cut" SKin is GREAT! Should be the DEFAULT skin for IPB 3.x

Could someone from IPS please let me know if CleanCut, being an officially maintained skin, will have a GDK available for some of the images it uses?
