Database record cover photo position isn’t used

I can't reproduce this. Is there anything in your browser console or your system logs?

Can you check your database table to see if you have the record_image_offset field present?

@Esther E., from what I see, opentype is not logged in, so it probably has to do with some privacy settings. opentype shouldn't be able to access this button as a Guest at all.

This bug was fixed in B8.

Did some more testing. It happens only in Safari, where every Pages cover image is always aligned at the top. The correct placement data is stored (even using Safari) and it shows correctly in Firefox and Chrome. But Safari ignores the value on page load without console errors. Interestingly, it even snaps into the correct position when I click “Reposition“. So, the function works, just not during page load. 

This is a bug introduced in Safari 18.2 (released a few days ago). It fails to compute clamp values when percentages are calculated inside them, like so:

object-position: 50% clamp(0%, var(--offset) * 1%, 100%);

Clamping an integer and then converting it to a percentage fixes the bug:

object-position: 50% calc(clamp(0, var(--offset), 100) * 1%);

All fixed for the next update.
