Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Management Matt Posted October 23 Management Posted October 23 Beta squad! (I'm trying something new, don't judge me) Invision Community 5.0.0 Beta 2 is floating through our cloud deployment system and should be available soon. There's a lot fixed in this version, so thank you for your patience over the past week or so. The full list of fixes is here: https://invisioncommunity.com/release-notes-v5/ Hopefully we didn't add to many new bugs. 🤞 rastafari, Cedric V, Jimi Wikman and 11 others 9 5

Cedric V Posted October 23 Posted October 23 It’s been a while since I last used Invision. Do upgrades appear in the ACP or am I supposed to upload a new set of files? Selfhosted.
Management Matt Posted October 23 Author Management Posted October 23 Self hosted will need to do the manual upload this time. I think the self hosted download zip from cloud is broken in this release. Cedric V 1

I think the self hosted download zip from cloud is broken in this release. Are you able to clarify this? I downloaded the Beta 2 zip from AdminCP (for some reason the FTP credentials I was putting in wasn't working and leading to errors), but I downloaded I guess the 'delta' zip (with not all the files, just those needed for the upgrade) and manually uploaded them to my FTP. The upgrade seemed to work, but I haven't tried the frontend yet for fear of losing data as per this thread. Is there another method I should download and manually upload Beta 2, or have I done it correctly as you described?
Hatsu Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I started the automatic upgrade process in ACP and it went through until the actual upgrade. So downloading, unpacking etc. worked. Then it asked me to do the upgrade manually. Provided a download link with only the delta files. I followed the instructions, downloaded the delta, uploaded the files, started the upgrade with the provided button and it went through. This is just for information.
fileo Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Wait, can I now upgrade my IPS 4 or have to wait final Product?
Mike G. Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I'm one of the lucky ones. Self-hosted upgraded went through for me 🙌 abobader and Joel R 2

Go to your File Manager in cPanel (or whatever you use), upload the zip file, extract the contents in the correct directory (in my case, I had to move them from the ips_a8c49 folder to the main directory), and go to the /admin/install link on your community - easy as that.  Just did it on my behalf, without any issues.

It is not recommended to update your production site with the Beta unless you know exactly what you're doing. You usually don't get support for Beta software if something goes wrong and you have to fix it yourself. Edited October 23 by Hatsu
Omri Amos Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I don’t see a fix for this API bug on the changelog (I was told it will be fixed on the next beta), can you please confirm if it’s fixed on beta2 or not?
Management Matt Posted October 23 Author Management Posted October 23 It is fixed. There was one branch for all v4 fixes that had been merged in. Omri Amos 1
Baian007 Posted October 23 Posted October 23 For me (self-hosted ), the upgrade was successful. The package was downloaded manually. Matt, DawPi and abobader 3
2TonWaffle Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Just went through the update process via the AdminCP and everything seems to have gone through just fine. abobader and Matt 2
Gary Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Like a glove! The update went through smoothly without a hitch. Matt and abobader 2

I had to run an ssh command to be able to use sftp option when they ask about credentials, after that all good. Without manual ftp install abobader, Mike G. and Matt 3
