Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
David N. Posted September 5 Posted September 5 (edited) I get no push notifications from my forum in Chrome. They're enabled in my forum and in Chrome, but nothing. Edited September 5 by David N.
Marc Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Could you please provide an example username on your site, and an example item you believe you should have had notification on?
David N. Posted September 5 Author Posted September 5 You can take my username (I'll send it privately). I subscribe to the main forum and there are dozens of new posts every day and haven't had a notification for days.
Marc Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I would need a specific example please. You mention there have been all sorts of new posts, but note you would get notifications for new topics only if you subscribe to a forum
Pescao6 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I had my GMP extension disabled on PHP 8.1 because for some reason cPanel was on ea-php81. Changing the PHP selector back to alt-php81 fixed it. Are you seeing any errors when you go to the AdminCP -> System -> Support -> Get Support?
David N. Posted September 5 Author Posted September 5 Like I said... 17 minutes ago, David N. said: I subscribe to the main forum A specific example would be the last post in that forum which was posted 1 hour ago. I also should get notifications whenever someone mentions me or interacts with content I have posted, whenever I receive a personal message, and I Automatically follow new content I post Automatically follow content I reply to ... so I should get dozens of notifications a day (and I used to).
Marc Posted September 5 Posted September 5 What device are you using, so I can test on this end. Also, are you the only person having issues, or is this everyone? David N. 1
Pescao6 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 There are yourdomain/notifications/options/ which would affect each user individually. These can be reset for everyone on the AdminCP if that's the problem.

I have no idea who else (if anyone) is having issues. I haven't received any notifications for days (weeks?) and only noticed now, so maybe others haven't received them and haven't noticed it or haven't reported it, or maybe no one else is using them, no idea. I'm using a Mac mini running macOS Sonoma 14.5 and Chrome Version 127.0.6533.120 (Official Build) (arm64) .
David N. Posted September 5 Author Posted September 5 @Marc I just noticed that I'm also not receiving any notification from this website (invisioncommunity.com) when I follow this topic and notifications are enabled in my browser for this site as well.
Marc Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release. David N. 1
Allan - TheTechTribe Posted September 10 Posted September 10 following this topic as we share same problem David N. 1
David N. Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 Unfortunately while the notifications still aren't working, now I constantly get prompted to enable push notifications in my bell pop-up menu, then it stays stuck on 'Enabling...' and prompts me again if I click the bell icon a few seconds later. The notifications for my site are enabled in my browser. I have tried deleting all cookies related to my site but the issue comes back.
David N. Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 Spoke too fast? I just deleted the cookies again and now the notifications stay enabled and I no longer get the prompts.

Please let us know if you would like us to magically resolve the issue without touching a single button in the future 🙂 David N., Allan - TheTechTribe and SeNioR- 3
David N. Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 I am getting asked to enable push notifications on a regular basis once again... even though I still get no notifications whether I enable them or not. 😞
Marc Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Have you tried the same as before? Clearing cookies etc? Something seems off with your browser I think. I know this is 3 separate items I have seen where we havent been able to replicate it, which would all relate to browser Note, Im referring to the message not going away. The fact notifications are not being received is an open bug David N. 1

I had the same issue for a while after an update, but another one seems to have fixed it now. David N. and SeNioR- 1 1

Thanks! 3 hours ago, Marc said: Note, Im referring to the message not going away. The fact notifications are not being received is an open bug Interestingly I just tested Safari and I DO receive notifications from Safari! It's only Chrome that won't send me notifications.
David N. Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 Notifications also work as expected on Safari on my iPhone 13.
