I really love the changes to the Editor and the new schema revision in order to sanitize all the "pasted" content from other sites. Many times, people paste content from "dark mode" and text background is attached.

However, as many other community admins, would feel weird if we cannot edit the source code.

I usually add Tables to my content and as I have attached a .js to the community, with a special class, I make them sortable.

Any chances to add Tables in this editor?

It's really not, to be honest. Seriously, this weird "unmarked white space that exists but doesn't really unless you click it" idea is a nonsense - both in usability terms and in WYSIWYG standards. If

For example, I add a class to an embedded YouTube video to center it. The embedded block does not respond to the centering buttons from editor.

Tables are on the roadmap. Perhaps not for v5.0 but we want to support them.

Keep those reasons for using source mode coming.

Hi @Matt

Off the top of my head, for one site (link) I used Source mode HTML editing in the AdminCP with Pages Blocks.

I wanted to create some Custom Blocks that I can quickly add on the first of each month to my Pages home page, with monthly gardening tips. Each black has an image and a link to a Calendar Event.

Could contain: Flower, Plant, Petal, Rose, Advertisement

Simply embedding a calendar event link wasn't the best option, for a few reasons, they always show the original event creation date for example:-

Could contain: File, Webpage, Flower, Plant, Petal, Page, Text

Sticky Toolbar

Anyone who has authored a long piece of content knows the pain of scrolling up and down to get the toolbar in view. To make writing longer content less stressful, we've made the toolbar sticky so that it will always be fixed at the top of the editor after scrolling down.

Yes! Thank you. Editing a Terms of Use policy, Community Rules or Privacy Policy in the AdminCP is a pain without this, especially when using an iPad!

Re: Tables, I never had any issue with them in CKEditor4. There is a great plugin available for tables by the CKEditor creators. https://ckeditor.com/cke4/addons/search/plugins/table

Also a plug in for semantic headings h1, h2, h3 etc.

Question: Is there a way to change the UI toolbar colour in the new editor to match custom theme?

Many thanks.

That will be possible without source mode using editor content boxes and the new page builder, stay tuned as we are wrapping that up soon; it'd take some custom CSS to get the button and heading exactly the same, but nothing crazy. There will also be custom HTML blocks still so you can use custom HTML in those areas for cases where an editor plugin is overkill.

No, but thanks to the theme magic of relative colors, you shouldn't need to. It will use the same background as the wrapping container.

Thank you much appreciated. Will keep an eye out for those updates and announcements.

Apologies for digging up this thread.
Having read through all the responses, there are fully one third dealing with html/source abilities with the Editor. As such, it would seem that there is a pretty significant demand by admins for this ability. Count me among those who would love to have that ability in v5.

I don't use it to a great extent but it is important to me (and others it would seem) that I retain certain abilities to tailor content on sites.

There are just so many things that can be done that you can't include in a standard enhanced editor.

Source mode isn't possible in v5 due to how modern editors manage text. It's not like the old days where it markup was thrown around it and called it good.

Has this qualifier changed? I ask because there is a dev who has created the ability to utilize html in the editor.

Thank you for your time.

It's just not possible due to how the editor sees everything as nodes.

The only way around it would be to effectively launch a text box and use that, but it would mean you would have to use a text box for future edits forever because the moment you turn load that content in the normal editor, it would remove everything it didn't have a node for breaking the content.
That's not a great experience imo.

Not to contradict Marc, but there will be a global Table of Contents widget for which you can apply anchors to headings and box titles (stay tuned for more page builder updates 🙂)

Is there documentation somewhere on how to get this to work? Perhaps I am having a blonde moment when it comes to this but, I have tried placing it upon a page but it doesn't show. I want to get a feel for how it works. Is this supposed to be the solution for anchor links? Outside of the page it links to?

This is what the block says:
You must exit the Page Editor to customize the Table Of Contents entries. A page with no Table of Contents entries will cause this widget to be hidden.

Elements in the page such as Headings, short Paragraphs and Content Box Titles can be added to the table and will have a menu available on hover. A default collection of Table of Contents entries will be generated from Headings on the page.

To be fair, I have not obtained the APP but there does seem to be a fair number who have downloaded it.

You just drag it onto the page. It will try to create a TOC listing automatically and then you can edit the entries once you see them.

Most of the times I tried it, the initial scan just doesn’t work. The loading icon just keeps spinning forever.

Right. When I exit the Page Editor, the block doesn't show. Refreshing the page doesn't help. I go back into the Page Editor and all I see is the loading icon just spinning.

Thanks.

I'll create a bug for this. Just to be clear, by "initial scan", do you mean right after exiting the page editor or every time the page initially loads?
