Associating forum topics and events

Is there a way to associate a specific topic with a specific event? I would like to be able to discuss about events within the forum.

This idea comes from how it was handled in my (really) old PHPBB forum before upgrading to Invision. Basically, you could see a calendar with events but when you clicked on the event (on the calendar) it brought you to a specific topic.

There is no facility to do that at the present time. You would need to create a topic yourself and post a link to the calendar item. Of course, you can also discuss within the calendar event itself using comments
