Having issues trying to edit a forum post while editing it with admin account (REFERENCE I've been trying to edit this post)

Could contain: Text, Business Card, Paper, Tape

I have checked the permissions and no restrictions on time for Administrators

Could contain: Page, Text, File

And current settings for the server are

Could contain: Page, Text

And I am running the default Invision (un-altered theme)

Could contain: File, Text, Page, Webpage

Not sure if there is anything else I can provide that would help identify why I (administrator) can not edit a post.  I should be able to edit anything on the site as the administrator.

Help is appreciated.

Go to Staff - Moderators - your admin group should exist here. It should also be unrestricted.

Would recommend trying what Adlago mentioned, if you're an unrestricted moderator, I would also check to see if you have mod_security enabled on your server as there is a 403 error in the console when saving the editor on that post which could be related here.

they are unrestricted

Jim you are a genius..  I looked at modsecurity and changed from tradeoff to fast and that "seems" to have fixed the issue.  Attaching image for reference for anyone else who may run into this issue

However, you also look at this - you have too many 404 errors on this page

Yea thats an issue.  Any ideas why or what I should look at?  I tried to rebuild index and sitemap but I don't think thats the correct path.  How I'm reading the screenshot is it can not find any of the image files and not sure how to relink them.  Is the only way to remove image references in all posts or reupload??  that would be a major pain

It seems some action by you has restored it to work. Now on test everything looks good.

Have also been receiving this 403 message when attempting to change member id in profile data?  checked initial idea from Adlago and found one of my settings had changed for no apparent reason.  Fixed that, but still getting error message.  Would like to say i have a clue where to look for 'mod security' but i don't.

This is a server module so you will want to contact your hosting provider for assistance if you are unsure.

I'm having this issue on my site now (suddenly), not for admins but for members. I'm hosted on GoDaddy, if it's a server configuration, what do I ask them to look for or to adjust?

What is the precise issue with the server configuration? The more details you give us the better. On a side note, I think it's better if you started a new topic about issues that you are having rather than bumping somewhat old topics that are irrelevant to your issues. You will get better attention that way imo.

Thanks, I've (in the past) been chastised for starting new threads for topics that already exist. So I guess it's a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' kind of thing. This topic is the exact problem I'm having so it fits this topic and adds to potential solutions for people in the future when they have the same problem, rather than having solutions spread out across multiple posts. THis thread is less than 2 years old. So still fairly relevant. It if was from 2005, I'd have skipped over it.

What is the precise issue? That's what I'm trying to determine. Members can't edit posts but the ACP is set to allow editing for an unlimited time frame.

Are they getting any errors when they try to edit their posts? If so, what errors do they get? If you check either the System Logs page or the Server Error log page, are there any messages logged in there most recently pertaining to this? What about any changes done to the forum prior to this happening? Can you also try to disable all third party stuff and see if that would help? That's to either rule them out or identifying one of them as being the cause of the issue.

I'm sure nobody is going to "chastise" you for posting a new topic instead of reopening a year old one :)

If you are having issues with a user being able to edit, please provide the name of the user and then item they are trying to edit, and we can take a look for you.

It's happened. I didn't take offense to it, I didn't take it seriously. So no big deal. There's always going to be someone that won't like one thing or another.

It's not just a single user having the issue, it's multiple people, even an admin, though I believe he's having the issue on his non-admin "normal member" account. I've tried editing the various posts that people have pointed out to see if it would happen to me but I have no issue, but I'm an admin and I don't believe it's affecting admins.

I thought that maybe there was a bug in the permissions, so I set the Members group from 'unlimited' editing to a 10 year editing time limit but that did nothing and it was set back to unlimited, which still has the error pop up. Not all the time, not everywhere, kind of intermittently from what I can tell.

I'm going to get the board upgraded to the latest version soon, so I'm hoping that will resolve this issue. If it doesn't, I'll see if you can take a look and see if you see anything.

Please do that, and then if you do still have the issue, please provide an example topic and user. I realise you say its many, but just provide one and I can take a look for you
