Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted November 17, 20222 yr I've had one of our site users who posts / reads via his Samsung S22 Ultra and recently has had issues on our site when he posts. What happens is, he writes out his post, but when submitting his post there seems to be numerous blank lines under his post which extends the space his post takes right down the screen. I've not seen it with anyone else, and not heard of it before, but could someone shed any light on this? Is it something that has happened before? What could I/he do? It's an error that doesn't appear for him on any other site. Thanks
November 17, 20222 yr Check he isn't using a custom editor on his phone. We've not seen any other reports of this either. Unfortunately, this will be a device issue rather than one with your site.
November 17, 20222 yr Author I've asked the question... I'll report back, but I suspect he's using Samsung's browser. On 11/17/2022 at 1:12 PM, My Sharona said: Samsung browser? Yeah he's using Samsung's browser. I've asked him to try Chrome on his device... Edited November 17, 20222 yr by Owlsonline Admin
November 21, 20222 yr Author All good with Chrome, it's definitely Samsung's browser causing the issue,
November 22, 20222 yr Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug with his browser rather than with the software itself.
November 23, 20222 yr Author I've got another site user who has the exact same issue, using a Samsung Galaxy S21 now.
November 24, 20222 yr As mentioned, it may well be all on that browser. The fact its actively adding extra lines into the editor however is a browser issue, rather than one with the software, unfortunately
November 25, 20222 yr Author With so many people using S21's as it's a popular device right around the world, and Samsung browsers being widely used is there any chance of someone looking at it? I'm asking people to use Chrome or other browsers instead .. But it won't just be my site users will it?
November 25, 20222 yr We dont actually have any control over what the browser itself enters into the editor unfortunately. Therefore if its entering extra space, there is only the browser that can resolve that. I have tagged developers anyway to see if there are any further thoughts on this of course

November 26, 20222 yr I'm having same problem with a user on our site using Samsung S22 and Brave browser. Running latest version of IPBoard.

Please note we only support the native browser on mobile devices. Third party browser, like Brave, would not be supported, I’m afraid.

Earlier posts here have stated that it was the Samsung browser causing this issue on a S22. By adding the Brave browser to the equation on the S22, it would seem to lend to the issue possibly being on the S22 itself.

Its actually more likely the keyboard causing it than anything else
November 28, 20222 yr If possible, can someone send me a URL to a post which has the empty lines? There may be a css solution which can help temporarily, until the issue is fixed by Samsung or CKEditor 🙂

I have a couple members who have had issues with different functions (not all related to the issue here) not working properly, such as email notifications for items they may be following. Turning off the 'battery optimization' (which was recommended course of action by a developer) has seemingly fixed their issues (I know, doesn't make a whole lot of sense). For a little more context. two users are reporting a Samsung device(s) and a Cubot 9, both run Android OPSYS.

Thank you for sharing that information. Sound like they have indeed broken something
