Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Michal Mroz Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 For the last couple of days some spammers from India are bypassing the registration form and, well, celebrate the spamfest. It doesn't make sense to ban them one by one because my community is local and I don't need any traffic from India. Recently I've set the rule that admin has to approve new users but it's not an optimal solution. Can I just restrict access for users from India or from some IP ranges?
Randy Calvert Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Your best bet is not to do that within IPS, but to instead to either at the server firewall (such as CSF) or cloud firewall level (such as Cloudflare). I've personally blocked all traffic from Russia, India, and China via the Cloudflare firewall. If you have admin level access to CSF, you can use something like: https://www.systemfixes.com/blog/2019/02/24/how-to-block-traffic-by-country-in-the-csf-firewall/
