custom widgetbox in custom footer

hello i add custom widgetbox in custom footer via this line
{template="widgetContainer" app="core" group="global" params="'custom_footer', 'horizontal'"}

but when i add block, after reload page is custom widgetbox blank
I try also this

{template="widgetContainer" group="pages" app="cms" params="'custom_footer', $widgets, 'horizontal'"}

but I this cant add widgets

 

am i trying set this widgetbox with same widgets on all pages on websites

Currently there is no way to add custom widget containers at this time other than in pages and by using the Pages "templates" you would apply the widget containers to the page and done.

This means it doesn't work outside of the Pages app.

And is possible paste some widget directly e.g. whosOnline widget?

If you use a pages block you can use it in the template directly.
