Sorting By Price / Numbers

Hi Guys - I am working with @opentype's SuperReviews plugin and templates. I've added a field named Price to out product database, but I can't figure out how to sort by this field. I've tried number fields, text (and validated as number), etc... but the sorting only seems to look at the first digit of the price, unless more than one have the same first digit. 

Below is a screenshot of the sort by price.

Question: How can I create a field that will be sorted by price?

Bonus Question: How to default the sort to Ascending?
