Any guide for moving to a new host?

I inherited a site on a host that has been problematic, and want to move the board to a different host I have had better experiences with for other sites. Is there a migration guide available showing the best way to do this? I have a full backup from the old site and can let it stay up while getting things moved. I can probably figure this out eventually, but if anyone has written up a cookbook of what I need to consider I would appreciate being pointed in that direction.
