Good back up solution

I am wondering how you all take back up? I normally use rsync and separate full back up. But recently i was told by support staff that database back up time + file back up time should match. My database back ups are midnight back ups and since files don't change often, I do it weekly rsync. 

I am just wondering if someone has good solution so that database back up + file back up are in sync?
