registration conditional fields

Is there a way to make registration fields conditional? Such as a radio button or checkbox that when selected, additional content appears that may be then completed?

The thought is having the registration form change dynamically based on answers so that it tailors to the community members registering based on their answers.

With a plugin, yes. Custom fields don’t.
