Downloads Version Number

The version numbers in the Downloads app aren't necessary for my site as we sell music / songs that are all finished products and will never be updated.

Is it possible to remove the version number settings so they don't appear on the files page or even on the upload page?

Or alternatively could I change the version number to 'Mix Version' and have the default value to be 'Original Mix' instead of 1.0.0 so the songs could have Original Mix or could be changed to Remix, Extended Mix etc?
