Question about theme in IPS

IPS Theme comes with a lot of customizations and features.

Is there any guide of some sort that helps anyone understands what the colors available for which elements while customizing a theme in the admin CP?

 In Forum application, Base text color is applied on Author name (By admin).

 In Gallery application, Light text color is applied on Author name (By admin).

 

Color applied on both application is different for the same type of elements, does anyone know the reason behind this?

Stylistic reasons. A good designer takes the approach "What is best for UX here? What looks best?" rather than thinking "The name of the content contributor should always be the same font in the same size in the same colour" and so on. That's all that's happening here. The name of the contributor isn't particular relevant in the image. The user isn't normally going to be too interested in who uploaded it when looking at the thumbnail image, so that text doesn't need to stand out so much. On the view of the last post in a forum category, though, the name of the poster might be of more interest so is slightly larger and contrasts more with the background.
