Emojis and Emoticons

I've upgraded my test site from 4.2.8 to 4.3.3

All good, but even on 4.3.3 before tweaking the new emojis options, I was able to convert text into the old emoticons.

For example :) would automatically turn into as I typed.

After tweaking around and saving the emojis preferences, it doesn't do that any longer. I tried different combinations of the settings and still no luck; :) simply remains :) and I see that it happens the same on this site.

This is how I believe the preferences were before tweaking them around (I saved EmojiOne Style initially), and this also what I reverted to after noticing the problem. Any ideas please?

Actually, scratch all that out. Now it's working on my site. It must have been a cache problem or something like that.
