Lighttpd FURLS?

I've searched around the forum and it seems there used to be a thread that staff pointed to for instructions on what was needed for Lighttpd to handle friendly URLS -- http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/349943-htaccess-settings-what-would-they-be-for-lighttpd/#entry2186631 -- but that thread seems to be gone.

Anyone have any suggestions? I searched a few threads and some seem outdated, others require additional mods that seem excessive.
