Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Aetherdan Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Hi All, I opened a ticket with support but they were unable to provide any support regarding the issue, so I'll try here as I have had success here in the past. We have a group of user sin the community registering multiple accounts and spamming posts with thousands of characters, usually arabic (have since blocked arabic chars) or some form of graphical based text. What this usually does it create massive load times to open up those topics and delete the resulting spam. The server also throws bytes exhausted errors when this kind of thing occurs. What I have been looking for is a way to limit the amount of characters or even limit the size of a post, but such a setting doesn't exist. Anyone ever experienced a similar issue and resolved it? Thanks for the support
Aetherdan Posted September 28, 2017 Author Posted September 28, 2017 I guess there really is no solution. I just looked into changing the database. Would there be any serious repercussions from changing the post fieldtype from mediumtext to text?
