Posted July 15, 20177 yr Does anyone know how to make a News page/database...Similar to what we see here on IPS?
July 18, 20177 yr Author lol, all these views and no one knows how to make this..or am i explaining it wrong?
July 18, 20177 yr @FNG As far as I know, you just create a database, call it news, choose the settings and template, create a page at the same time before you save. Add permission when asked. Now you will have a blank news page when you load it. You can add record. For the sidebar, when on the page and login, click the manage block arrow on the left side, choose pages -- record feed, fill the different settings, save and Done. I am attaching the xml of the database if you prefer just importing it. I hope it helps. News.xml
July 18, 20177 yr Author @Steph40 thank you so much.... and i will just use the import...i don't want to mess up...again thx
July 18, 20177 yr @FGN Got the name wrong the first time Don't forget to manually add the sidebar after. You are welcome.
July 21, 20177 yr Pages is one of the most complicated applications in the suite, but also the most powerful. It took me six months before I started understanding it and another year before I had anything usable, so don't feel bad. I strongly encourage you to read the Help Guides on working with Pages. Creating a news database is one of the easiest things you can do using the database function IP.Pages.
July 21, 20177 yr Author @Joel R appreciate the feedback.... My news page is set up and running smoothly, my whole site is mainly ran off of the pages app and i agree, pages is a very powerful feature and app! I am so grateful that IPS has this feature and can be customized to the fullest!

I am so grateful that IPS has this feature and can be customized to the fullest! If you're running a news community and want to explore more styles to change your templates, search for: 1. Cube-y grid news 2. A different article style by @TAMAN. (Worst name ever, but still a good template) 3. SuperHelp, SuperGrid, or SuperSlider by @opentype (Ralf is the IP.Pages guru in the entire IPS community, and his examples of IP.Pages database will make you feel both awesomely inspired and depressingly inadequate).
July 21, 20177 yr Author lol, no sry i'm not a news site and i just have the news database to show off new features and updates of my site... and i already have the @opentype plugins on my site for enhancement and more features I'm right with you buddy, thx!
