Ocean West Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Ok this is a bit irksome I have a several custom profile fields that is a Select Box ( and a check box) and it contains things like the current software version you are using platform etc and every year there is an update i add a NEW item to the option for that latest version and move it to the top. I just discovered this bit of text that has escaped me.... Once defined the ordering of these values cannot be altered without affecting existing values. So I realize the users selection is stored as a 0 based index in the table based on the order in the ACP i have been reordering them all along not seeing this and basically invalidating everything a user has entered so now I must wipe out the entire set of fields and start over so that every one has a clean start and hopefully the profile completion process will get people motivated to add data back. This really needs to have an option to decouple the presentation display order of these types of lists on the front of the site with how the data is stored, so until something can be done, I have to go in and add the version numbers from oldest to newest, and only add items to the end. And also if there is a remote chance I want something to have an "N/A" option at the top below the blank default value i'd have to put it at the very top other wise it would be be in the list ( v1, v2, v3, N/A, v4, v5) whenever i decided to add it. Also if you delete an older option (say v1, v2 ) because they are no longer supported and you just don't want to have them as a selection any more you just invalidated everyone's selection. (with no warning)
