Morrigan Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 So I brought this up when 4.0 came out and @Kevin Carwile came out with a temporary fix that allowed you to choose what types of notifications you could get from each user. This worked for a few versions but hasn't worked in forever. I would love that this be core. Some people I want to see just their status updates but not their thread. Or their threads and not their replies. Or maybe they are graphics artists and so I just want to see their gallery images, I don't care about their forum posts at all. What I would like is a moduler "follow" feature. Something that a user can choose "how" they follow someone. Just because I like the person doesn't mean I like everything they do. I think by default it should be everything but I think they should allow for what they want to know. A case use to explain this. I have mod options to post and move things into an archive forum. Well if I don't do this every day, lets say I go a few weeks before I do this (being a solo admin makes this common) well now I go through and archive 20 threads well everyone following me gets 20 irrelevant notifications that I've posted in which it was an automated response. I would prefer option 1 however I think option 2 has it's own case use. Allowing for us to control who is notified of saved actions (including notifying the author or those who follow). Mind you I'm being called out for being a long time user and BFFs with IPS staff:
