Past Leaders: timing

So, how does this work?  A user was looking at a past leader who changed.  They were in first place for yesterday, then we think a user who had been away for the day came on and liked a bunch of the third place persons posts and now they are in first place for yesterday.

What is the timing for Likes as they apply to Past Leaders?

Does it ever get locked in?  Can I go back to posts from a user from a week ago and Like all of their posts for that day and change the Past Leader?
