How to detect whether someone's logged in or not?

I've seen this on another forum, it detects if a member is signed in or not and gives them the option to register or sign in.

Anyone know how to do this, I'm thinking a widget I could add to Pages. ????

You could create a block and give admins and guests permission to see it. Drag it to the page you want it to display at. You can turn permissions off for admins if you want to hide it from yourself.

Ah, so only guest would see it... How do i do a link to register though? With the register box?
