Downloads: can't upload file

When I try to upload a file in Downloads, I get an error message:

connorhawke.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

 

Permissions/etc are correct.

If I try bulk upload, it loads the bulk upload page, but after uploading, the Continue button is still grayed out.

Not sure if related, but some other pages on the front-end and in the ACP don't load, with an error that starts like 'OutOfRangeException:  (0)' followed by a bunch of paths.

Any ideas?

This is important and will tell you which is the error.
