Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
ProSkill Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I switched from Simple Machines Forum to IPB about 4 months ago. And I've see a steady decline in page views. Initially, I attributed most of the decline to Google having to re-index the site, as I didn't do any url redirection during the upgrade process, so pretty much all of my URLs were changed during the switch. However my rank for my main keyword is better than it was before and the amount of users is recovering, but the page views continue to go down. I am wondering if the way that IPB loads pages might be part of the reason for the drop in page views? I believe with SMF pretty much anything you do reloads the page, but IPB makes more use of Ajax calls. Does anyone have any insight in to this?
Colonel_mortis Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 In 4.1.13 (provisionally), they are adding code to make ajax pagination count as a new page view, which should help. Until then, you can disable ajax pagination in the theme settings if you want to see whether that is the issue.
