Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
walnut100 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I guess this is kind of a question and suggestion at the same time so I'm putting it here I'm wanting to to re-order member IDs so that there are no gaps (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... etc instead of 1, 4, 12, 58... etc) The gaps are caused by deleted accounts, unfinished registrations and things of that nature I could do it by just writing a script that changes the correct attribute in every SQL table but I was wondering if such a tool existed already? And it'd be a nice thing to have if it doesn't Thanks edit: Sorry about putting this in the wrong forum by the way, thanks for redirecting it
RazorSEdge Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 There was a tool for IP 3.x, but to my knowledge there is not one for 4.x yet. The 3.x tool also only took into account IPS Applications. Third party applications still had to be changed manually or added to the script.
MADMAN32395 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Overall sounds messy and pointless. (Besides to calm OCD.) I really don't think it's necessary to have everyone always in chronological order. Because a lot of things rely on that set number. A lot of databases do that by having a set number for things.
