Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Lenny Warren Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I'm quite impressed how IPS 4.1 looks on my iPhone, don't really see the need to use Tapatalk or the like. The only thing that is annoying is that when I'm making a post, I automatically post the built in iPhone emoticons, as I'm used to that on Facebook or the like. This gives the error... "The value entered includes a character that is not allowed such as an emoji" Is there a fix for this?
Lenny Warren Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 I couldn't find anything on this when I searched, but when I changed my search term from emoticon to emoji, I found a post saying I need to update MySQL. I'm on it... ;-) Whilst I'm on the subject, in the line above, I'm used to typing smilies with a "nose" like this ;-) which doesn't work. Is that a quick fix?
chilihead Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Make sure you are using this charset: utf8mb4
Lenny Warren Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Just now, chilihead said: Make sure you are using this charset: utf8mb4 Cheers, I have a managed VPS server so will get the techs to upgrade this.
Lenny Warren Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 I've had MySQL updated to 5.5.47 but my hosting support day they can't set utf8mb4 character set. Is this something IPS support would do?
SJ77 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I am waiting to see how to make this work on my site as well
