Converter Script ReDirects...

So I still have old links ( previous forums url ) stored in old posts the every so often people will complain the link doesn't work.

Is there any way to use the friendly URL to redirect these to new post - using the convert tables? and not have to maintain the old php scripts showpost.php

Ideally - (probably too late for me ) but it would be nice to have a way to convert old urls stored internally in the post table to the converted path.
