Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Greenman Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 HiJust seeing if anyone has had the same issue.Since we upgraded to IP4 (which we really like except for this bug) we have run into a really strange issue, where members are struggling to login. It appears that if they try and use their email address, it doesn't work, but with their 'display name', it does work. When they use their email address, it always says that the password is incorrect. We are also then getting a lot of users who are getting automatically locked out of their account.Has this happened to anyone else? Many thanks, Si
JWSOUNDGROUP Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Yes, this has been a real problem for me after updating to 4.0. It seems as if IPB has dropped the use of 2 names: username/login and display name. Now there is only display name. Members that had been logging in with their username (which was different in many case from their display name) were locked out. I had to personally do a lot of hand-holding and informing that members had to now use the only name they have, their display name. I don't think I ever had anyone signing in with their email address.
nylyon Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Did you check in the ACP: System --> Login Handlers --> (click the pencil for Standard) and change the authentication type for both?
