Jake Sully Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 wrong section to post this in ;) this is Technical support and it's only if you need help with problems.
sunrisecc Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 wrong section to post this in ;) this is Technical support and it's only if you need help with problems. I disagree.
Jake Sully Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 well it's true sunrisecc since user MrJC99 is asking a question and not requesting for support if unless they allow questions about something like this in this section or it might have to be in sales or client lounge part idk.
sunrisecc Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 It certainly fits this category. The technical support forums are for peer-to-peer support provide for any by IPS clients to other clients.
Dmacleo Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 tried it but tracker has issues so I reverted back. been thinking of removing tracker and trying again but had not gotten to it.
AndyF Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I tried it briefly and it worked although I could not get Zend to run with 5.4 so it was easier to just switch back rather than mess around getting Zend to behave. :) , apart from that (so no Nexus) it was OK. Did not try any third party apps though.
stoo2000 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 tried it but tracker has issues so I reverted back. been thinking of removing tracker and trying again but had not gotten to it.Can you make sure any PHP5.4 issues with Tracker are reported please. Thanks.
Jake Sully Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 It certainly fits this category. to bad i was right the topic got moved toCommunity Resources → Server Management, Resources, Optimization secondly tech support section is for IPB software and not about PHP 5.4 or any 3rd party softwares for a dedi ;)
Jake Sully Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 i'm not trying to argue it's just that sunrisecc just saying it belongs to ip tech support section but since this was about PHP 5.4 and not IPB ofcourse it had nothing todo with that section so later on this topic was moved to Server Management, Resources, Optimization section and that proved sunrisecc that this topic doesen't belong to ip tech support section if it did it wouldn't off been moved to a new section. i'm not going on about this thing anymore since this has nothing todo with topic title.
euantor Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I only run IP.Board but I've been running it on PHP 5.4 since I bought the license just about. I tried it with PHP 5.3 and 5.4 and I saw a minor speed increase on 5.4. No errors have been reported by any of my members either. Definitely worth a try in my opinion.
Dmacleo Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 uninstalled tracker and updated to 5.4, only issue I see (on apache 2.2.22) is APC does not work, tried 3.1.9 and 3.1.10 and just get the apc not running msg on test page. seems 5.4 and apc are issue for many too. some quick tests seem that 5.4 is enough of a gain to offset the loss, time will tell.
euantor Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I'm using APC just fine I believe. I only installed APC yesterday. Which test page are you referring to? An IPB internal one? If so, where would I find it so I can ensure it's running for me too?
Dmacleo Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 when installing apc there is an apc.php file you can place somewhere and test against. with php 5.4 I HAD to use apache 2.4.2, could not get it running on apache 2.2.2.
euantor Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Ah, I just compiled it and copied the module to where it needed to be. I'll check the apc.php file out.
Codehusker Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I've been on 5.4 with the full suite for over a month with no problems. APC shouldn't be a problem. 3.1.10 made it compatible with 5.4, although they did forget to increment the version number when they first released it.
Dmacleo Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 what apache version? I spent hours trying to get 2.2.22 working with 5.4.4 and apc 3.1.9 and 3.1.10.
Elly Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Using 5.4.4 just fine. As far as I am aware, xcache is the only opcode cache that works with 5.4. I'm using the 2.0.1rc1 version. This is nginx+fpm but should also work with apache+mod_php
euantor Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Confirming the above, APC definitely works. 3.3.4 also added a few PHP 5.4 based fixes which is good to see :)
