Limit status length

I've noticed some members using huge statues on my board. Well, it's OK if you don't enable status updates sidebar hook - several too long statuses will make it super big.

Would love to see an option to either limit status length to given number of characters, or crop them automatically in sidebar hook.

This really should be part of the core product. But there is a mod to limit the number of days and posts.
