Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Mellisa Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 In many cases I come and I see the whole site unsable due to server load and it takes hell of time to figure things out. Sometimes you just can't! I really wish there is way to automatically enable performance mode in ipb when load goes above a certain ratio and disable it again when it goes below another certain ratio. This way site will always run smoothly when we are not around. I this this tweak will be the most useful addition! What do you think guys?
AndyF Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I can see the value in something like that, although (just my thought) is it might be better as a third party hook. Some care would have to be taken to build in a safety margin so it did not rapidly switch itself on and off for tiny spikes though. Perhaps it could work from load averages rather than current loading...
Mellisa Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 well this is why i said 2 threshold. a high threshold to switch performance mode on, and another threshold that it will switch it back to off. thus making a safe gray area. and no need to fetch server load, just use what value ipb gives!
