Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
T3XT3 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 The integration of guest posts in the new comment system is just horrible! They can't give their name, for instance. It is just filled in with "Guest" ... I mean, how inexpedient is this? And in IP.Content blocks, which fetch comments, there stands nothing as the name. Its like: "Newest comment to this blog entry by" ???
bfarber Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 The second part would be a bug (IP.Content not showing any 'name'). You should report it to the IP.Content tracker.
T3XT3 Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 Well that is more a problem of my block code in IP.Content. Can fix it... okay! But still: Why can't guests give themselfs some kind of name?
Malcolm Reynolds Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 It would be really nice for guests to be able to give their name. Another thing that would be great is if comments on apps other than IP.Blog (i.e. Gallery, Downloads, and Content) could be checked for spam with Akismet.
XiuzSu Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I would like to add that if guests can give them self's some kind of a name (Example: Guest-"insertnamehere") it would be wise to have such name be run through the bad-word list for filtering first.
Lux Aeterna Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I want to allow guests to post comments and new forum topics in certain forums...but I can't allow it because there is no "Question & Answer" challenge available for posting/commenting as guests... I'm afraid the spam will be too much. (ReCapcha doesn't stop them) I wish they would add Question & Answer Challenge for Guests posts/comments
XiuzSu Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 That's good point! This should be require as well to avoid spam. Also if possible, running the IP against the IPS Spam Service to see if the Guest could potentially be a spammer.
