Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
MrFragicide Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Any news on what actually happened today that caused the IPS hosting servers to go down? My site is on server 34 so it was down for a few hours. I was just curious if there was a reason behind the DoS attack.
Management Lindy Posted October 10, 2010 Management Posted October 10, 2010 It was a relatively hefty attack, reaching 500mbps. It was targeted at a gaming website... apparently the owner annoyed a competing website. It's not unusual, it seems... though the scale of this attack was. Apologies for any inconvenience. That site is now removed from our network.
Ikadon Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 That site is now removed from our network. While I do understand this from your and your other customers point of view I feel really pity for the guy :(
MrFragicide Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Any news as to when the servers will be back up?
Ryan11433 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 no idea it will be back online once it is back up. ;)
Management Lindy Posted October 11, 2010 Management Posted October 11, 2010 It's been a bad weekend for server34! The hardware issue has been resolved.... I'm very sorry for the delay.
MrFragicide Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 no idea it will be back online once it is back up. ;) Thanks for the obvious... It's been a bad weekend for server34! The hardware issue has been resolved.... I'm very sorry for the delay. Indeed. Thanks for getting everything sorted. My site has been down all weekend which resulted in me losing revenue, thus the reason I was becoming a pest :P Here's to server 34 having a long(er) life :)
