I get e-mails from time-to-time from first-time users who are confused by the message

An Error Occurred

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

[#103139] You do not have permission to view this forum.

This happens when they are either (1) not logged in or (2) have registered and logged in but their account has not yet been validated.

On searching through this forum, I saw this same comment reported by someone else here: .

I think the reason it is confusing is that "An Error Occurred" in very big bold text suggests to the reader an error/bug in the forum software, like an HTTP 500 error. Even if they do see the smaller text "You do not have permission to view this forum." it still may not be clear why they don't have permission (i.e. they are not yet validated). Furthermore, the instructions "If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information" is kind-of nonsense to expect that from users.

It's not nonsense to tell a user to refer to help to see what it means... it's called putting the power in the users hands to help them selves..

You can customize this error completely by editing the Langauge sets in ACP

You'll need to post in the support forums or open a ticket in the Client Centre for assistance if needed. :)
