Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Sinistra Sensei Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Hello IP Staffers I have a quick question if its not a feature already then how about suggestion. Can we get or find out how to set a forum up with topic/reply moderation by group.? Reason I am asking is I would like to have guests post in a forum but moderate what is posted by them but not by registered members can this be done? or can this be ades as a hook or new feature in the next release
AndyF Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 You should be able to do this anyway, although I've never tried to set it up that way. In brief (as this topic is currently in Feedback) : Set a forums permissions to allow guests to post new topics (and reply to existing topics if required) Disable your members groups from posting in this forum (if required) but leave staff permissions as-is Edit the forum to enable posting moderation, so new topics (and / or replies) are moderated. Your moderator groups should then be able to deal with them appropriately. You can always add another forum-level group to moderate this forum if required. I may have misunderstood what you wanted though :)
Sinistra Sensei Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 I am mainly looking for a way to set up a guest support if they tried the password recovery or having account isues they they can't fix I want to be able to fix it for them but I want to keep guests from spamming up my community. if that makes sence. I want members and staff to be able to post without topic moderation but I just want guests to have topic and reply moderation
AndyF Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I partly misunderstood you. To do what you wanted: Create a forum (or edit an existing one) and allow guests to post in it. Next, go and edit the guest group (switch 'Moderate posts of everyone in this group?' to 'yes') ;)
