Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
keitht Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Hello, I am just getting started and have a few questions concerning images in new posts... 1) Is there a way to upload an image from a local PC to include in a new post? 2) Can an image be uploaded or embedded in a post rather than just as an attachment. 3) If an image is embedded in a post can it be resized (larger or smaller) 4) If an image is embedded in a post can text flow around it rather than just be on it's own line? Thanks, any answers and directions are appreciated.
Noles Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 1. Yes, click the "Click To Attack Files" button in the full editor. 2. Yes, use your favorite image hosting site - like http://imageshack.us/ 3. You would need to set the size of the image to whatever you want, before putting it in the post. 4. Not sure.
bfarber Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 4) If an image is embedded in a post can text flow around it rather than just be on it's own line? To do that, you would have to create a custom "float" bbcode tag and wrap your image with it. I found one already pre-made you can use: http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/3246-ts31-float-clear-bbcode/

I am running into the same issues. Both on IP.Board and IP.Blog. Brandon, Is there a way to upload an image from a users desktop into a blog or post. It seems silly to require users to hotlink to an image from another site or have them upload their image from their desktop to an image hosting service so that they can use that site's URL. To do that, you would have to create a custom "float" bbcode tag and wrap your image with it.I found one already pre-made you can use: http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/3246-ts31-float-clear-bbcode/ Brandon, How do my users use the custom bbcode tag. Is the custom "float" bbcode tag some that plugs into the forum and blog editor?
redballoons Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Brandon, How do my users use the custom bbcode tag. Is the custom "float" bbcode tag some that plugs into the forum and blog editor? I used the custom bbcode that Brandon suggested and found that the following code inserted manually into the text of a post works to align images:[/img][/float][float='left'][img] This works for me but having to explain this to registered users on my IP Board that are used to better editors on other sites seems silly. :(
