markopolo2002 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Since installing our board a few years ago we've never removed any of the files that could be now considered of no use. My first question I guess is simply is there a tool to remove all unused or old files from our directories which were part of an older installation and which are no longer used. I've quickly went through our site and have listed those files below which I reckon are no longer needed - I've renamed them already and so far the board is running fine, so next step is to delete them but before I do so can anyone confirm they are safe to be deleted?. I realise some may not be part of a previous install and could possibly be part of an old mod or something, but basically if it's not meant to be there I'm ready to get rid :) Cheers MarkoFOLDERS PENDING DELETION aspnet_client ccs_files cgi-bin chat data downloads gs ibpimages jscripts mod_install modules portal_img resources retail skin_acp sources style_avatars style_captcha style_emoticons style_images subscribe tempFILES PENDING DELETION admin.php astrack.js init.php ipb_seo.php script.js
Michael Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 'ccs_files' may be needed for IP.Content. 'chat' would be needed if you had some third party chat app that uses it, IP.Chat doesn't need it though. 'downloads' is needed if that's where IP.Downloads is storing files. Nothing else is related to the current version of IP.Board or its official apps. It should be safe to delete all of that, assuming none of it is needed anymore (there might be images you want to keep in some of those, or some may be needed for mods).
markopolo2002 Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 Cheers Michael, I'll check out the files that are required for both downloads and IPContent, both still working fine even with the folders/files having already been renamed so I guess everything should be OK, but I'll check anyways :) Cheers Marko
markopolo2002 Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 Correct on both counts Michael, both "ccs_files" and "downloads" still in use  Cheers Marko
