Breaking Legs Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 1) Would it be possible have a 'fit to screen' button aswell as the 'tile' button? 2) Where it shows 'enter background url' could you have a drop down link or a link to my own part of site with links to backgrounds which are on ftp?

Morrigan Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 1) Would it be possible have a 'fit to screen' button aswell as the 'tile' button? Not really I care for this. There are so many different sizes of screens that this option would make many backgrounds look gaudy because of the pixelation. If you want them to be bigger then make them bigger and they will fit on most screens as the image is fixed to the background. 2) Where it shows 'enter background url' could you have a drop down link or a link to my own part of site with links to backgrounds which are on ftp? You can add a link to your folder with these images via the skin although I do think that there should be a gallery option similar to avatars.

Morrigan Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 No offense but how? Squishing a large High Quality image can be just as bad as enlarging a decent quality small image.
Sinistra Sensei Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I like the gallery background idea for this but I have to agree why would you want to squish a high quality image just for a profile background. I would see this as a good thing if the members can set the background images as a fixed image so when you scroll down the image stays and you can then see the full image.
Morrigan Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 That would require not fixing it but I know what you mean and agree.
Breaking Legs Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 The very same as how a desktop wallpaper gets expanded to fit screen.
Morrigan Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 The very same as how a desktop wallpaper gets expanded to fit screen. That doesn't prove anything. It still makes the point that squishing a high quality image or enlarging a low quality image is just as bad.

Well if I can make up custom backgrounds for average screen size in Photoshop etc, and some members screens are slightly larger, I do think that would work. To fit to screen slightly. Im not talkin about a small low quality image found on google to have that stretched out. You wont be forced to use it, so I dont see why this is such a problem for you.
