Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Wolfie Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Let's keep this topic simple. If there's already a topic for a feature you'd like, then please post the link for that topic along with a description of the request. That way, existing topics will get more activity and requests are a little less likely to get lost in here. Sort of like a recap of wanted features. If a topic doesn't already exist, then create a topic and put the link in here. Here are some that I'd like to see: SOCIAL GROUPS! 'nuff said. Member picks which tab in their profile is the default tab Hovering over emoticons to show a description (such as their emoticon code) A grace period for being able to edit a post without having the "Edited by" automatically added.
Richey Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 - An additional, lighter theme with a fixed-width option. - Ajax Preview Search option (that would be sooo great guys).- Color chooser for standard theme. -> Sorry: http://community.invisionpower.com/index.php?app=core&module=skingen :) - Better looking Board Index Gallery Hmages Hook.

Iestyn Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Ability to modify the editors to modify the location of buttons etc.
Jυra Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Topic and gallery tagging. Less maze like ACP. More focus on forum experience and discussion instead of profiles.
Olivier Turbis Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 A skin upgrader that does everything for you and even makes the graphics look better. :hairy:
JahLion Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 hidden feature so we can hide content from members to they reply to the topic..
Olivier Turbis Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Custom messages for all members: Hi Olivier Turbis! Damn, it's hot in Manhattan, New York. Hope you enjoy your afternoon. Say hello to Chris!
Enkidu Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Backend MORE STATS. As an admin, you can't afford to stay fat, dump and happy. You need to know what's going on around your forum. like: members and/or guest trends. what do they visit first, where they stay most of their time on site. what/which feature they use. How many members register per day, how many users actually use this skin that I'd paid $50 for.....etc etc ect.frontend Controlled Presentation. Gone the days where website are just static text wrapped in html code and you can't do anything about it. I understand that forum is all about contents but let me ask you something. How many forums are there in this community and how many of them are you REALLY aware of or you visit regularly? ... it would be great if the user can mix-and-match which cats & forums he wants to be included in a personalized forum index. I can expand on that but I'm half drunk...sorry
DaveNYC Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 1. Just as signatures may now be disabled per group permissions, I'm suggesting that "About Me" be treated in the same fashion. I have sigs disabled for those who have just signed up. After a certain number of posts, they are promoted to regular membership and can add a sig. I'd like to be able to do the same with bbcode in the "About Me" page in order to combat link spam. 1b. The same permissions for member_profile > contact_info > website_URL would be a help too. Topic: [url="?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent> Me/website group permissions 2. A moderator setting that allows them to edit sigs and "About Me" and member_profile > contact_info > website_URL without needing access to the ACP would be a great help to combat link spam. I realize we already have the option to disable bbcode in sigs and "About Me" globally, but my suggestion is about group permissions, as I believe that would be more flexible. Topic: [url="?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent> Me, signature and website moderator settings 3. Social groups. (mentioned above) 4. Similar threads. Topic: [url=" threads.
Mark Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Sorry to be a killjoy but topics like this are really hard to keep track of. If you have a suggestion, it's much easier for us if you create a topic for it ;) Reading your suggestions is important (most of the developers read them all), but in topics like this the suggestions get lost in the side chat.

dfadmin Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Sorry to be a killjoy but topics like this are really hard to keep track of. If you have a suggestion, it's much easier for us if you create a topic for it ;) Reading your suggestions is important (most of the developers read them all), but in topics like this the suggestions get lost in the side chat. I have a question regarding the implementation politics? When a feature is suggested that is actually not too far out and reasonable easy to implement, WHO or WHAT actually decides if it is going to be put in and at which priority it is being handled? Do you hold polls I have not yet seen? Are there company meetings with a raise of hands vote and a boss veto? Does a fuzzy future timeline exists for where IPB is headed? Because I see a problem with new features, and that is that some features are "competitive" to how IPB works now (take for instance the debate around the parsing of html links that are not embedded). Sometimes the implemention changes the way things used to work in a way that makes people say "this is broken, I want the old version back". And other features will without a doubt make the software "bigger", that is harder to use (because for instance there are far more features to take care of in the ACP). This is a slippery slope and I would like to know how this is handled currently with IPB and the related applications. I might have an suggestion on how this process could be optimized, but if the answer to the above question is "boss call" or "coin flip" I don't feel like going through the hassle of typing it up... Input appreciated.
bfarber Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 We collectively gauge what types of features are most often suggested, most relevant, etc. and jot them down internally. We monitor all sorts of areas for this (blog replies, feature suggestions forum, tickets) with the biggest emphasis on feature suggestion topics here, since other customers can weigh in too. We have rough roadmaps internally outlined for future versions, but they're very fluid and change frequently. As it gets closer to a time where we'll implement new features, we go over our roadmaps and the suggestions our customers are making, and hash out plans for the specific version we're working on.
Amy T Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I would love to see the ability to change the default app in the admin cp instead of editing a file.
GodForum.com Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Brandon I would like to see a TUBE format ... option to enable the forum to be formatted like YouTube with similar videos tagged on the right. :)
Neejoh Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Crew edits (UBB code) that will make the post uneditable for the regular member. I currently have a custom bbcode (red border and title "admin edit"; plus a message why the post has been edited / user been warned) but it is listed in the BBcode for users, it just doesn't work for them. That, plus the edit is broken when the member edits his own post. He can also delete the crew message from his own post) Topic specific messages/warnings that only crew members can set. Like right before the Fast Reply box, a message could be displayed with extra info/links about a that specific subject (and topic) that people can read before they post. jQuery... If I quote someone that posted an image, either put this image in a tag or in an tag, not the default tag. Those were just on top of my mind, but if I think of more I'll share them too.
Energizer Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 What is the next Version? 3.2 or 4.0? i am not sure. I wish me a Permission Mask for Profile and Profile Fields and a really fully translatable ACP
TestingSomething Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Something that gives me a hot girlfriend. Preferrably a celeb one.
Mark Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 What is the next Version? 3.2 or 4.0? i am not sure. 3.2. Well of course, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, etc. but the next major version will be 3.2. This is the side chat I was referring to by the way ;)
Neejoh Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Something that gives me a hot girlfriend. Preferrably a celeb one. Those come with a lot of bugs (and nags)
