Bypassing word filter

Can it be possible to allow users to have the option of not being affected by the word filter? For example if a user feel they're mature enough to see filtered words can there be an option in the settings somewhere that allow for that user to see all the censored words?

There is a group setting on which group's members can bypass the bad word filter, but it can't be changed on a member-to-member basis.

Ah..any plans to change that in the future? D:

I suppose a similar effect could be accomplish via secondary ranks..though it wouldn't work for people who don't want to see the words.

As far as I know the word filter prevents some one for saying a word in the filter by changing it to some thing else. As soon as it is changed it can only be changed back by some one editing the post and changing it to the word the was filtered out. Meaning that even if you are in one of the groups that bypasses the word filter you will not be able to see the filtered out word that some one else had said.
So any way several changes would have to be made in order for this to work, although can understand why you would want this as it may come in handy.

Everyone would see the words irrespective of their group - the setting merely allows certain groups to be able to post such words.

There is only one copy of each post kept.

Not being the one who makes these decisions, don't take what I say as the gospel truth, but I doubt this is something that would be changed to work on a member-by-member basis anytime soon.

Interesting, never knew it worked like that. I thought everything is stored unfiltered in the database, but replaced upon displaying the page. I'd prefer it this way, but I guess it would be slower...?

It would be slower, yes. It's a lot friendlier on resources to just store the text you're going to display and display it, rather than display an unparsed version of it an execute a bunch of code on it to generate the output.
