AnthonyKinson Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 --- snipizzle --- I received this after changing the hashbangCOULD NOT SAVE FILE TO DISK looks like their could be a permission error on your mail cache directory, or an incorrect path, or maybe you forgot to create it?
xBeccax Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 ok, so i put the mail cache directory in the root and then i tried in the actual cache directory and the public_html. I tried 777,744,755 chomd permissions. Either way, the mail goes into the inbox so it has to be saving somehow somewhere. It just bounces back a "false" failure message.
AnthonyKinson Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 It all depends on how you have it set up. If the mail cache directory is empty theres a problem. Tge actual email message is saved in the database base64 encoded which is where its loaded from when you read it in your inbox. The email source, attachments and any inline images are saved to the mail cache. I cant remember though exactly what features were in Beta 2 in regards to the mail cache. Ive done alot of updates for the next release which i dont have access to at the minute (posting from the iphone app) Try sending an email with an attachment though and see if the files saves to the mail cache. The path has to be the full path too, it cant be a relative path.
xBeccax Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 attachments "cannot be saved" which means you are likely right about it being a mail cache problem. I will tinker with it, perhaps you have a few troubleshooting ideas?
Gorbo_MK Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I managed to get this working with the domain being registered through GoDaddy and the hosting itself is done through IPS hosting. FINALLY got it working after wrestling with it for well over an hour. My problem wasn't outgoing mail. It was incoming mail. I had been getting the folliwing error:Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 #5.1.0 Address rejected email@domain.com (state 14). Had to edit my MX Record through the GoDaddy Total DNS Control panel so that it wouldn't try to do all my email through their servers! I've also noticed that I can't delete any of my email using the checkboxes on the right then clicking "Delete Selected". Get the error that I've specified an invalid forum Couple future suggestions?Allow a single email address to be a catch-all for addresses that don't exist?Use the topic marker system to mark emails as read or unread? I also have Godaddy ( :( ) and have been struggling to make this work. Can you or anyone give me a bit of help on it?
AnthonyKinson Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 I'm not familiar with the workings of godaddy, hopefully somebody else will be able to assist you with that though. Also, although i have not replied much i have taken note of all requests and ideas.
Timberwolf1771 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Hey Anthony, this app looks great. I was wondering if this would work along side something like Google Apps email. I had to change my MX records of my email once I was approved for my google apps account. Is there a way to use this along with my google apps account?
.Doctor Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Not sure if this is a bug or not but when I change the System Name in the branding settings, the navtab still shows as Bouncy Mail.
AnthonyKinson Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Hey Anthony, this app looks great. I was wondering if this would work along side something like Google Apps email. I had to change my MX records of my email once I was approved for my google apps account. Is there a way to use this along with my google apps account? I'm not familiar with how google apps accounts work. Not sure if this is a bug or not but when I change the System Name in the branding settings, the navtab still shows as Bouncy Mail. no this is not a bug. tab titles are generated from a setting in the App's info rather than a setting. To change the tab title simple go to the manage apps page in the admin area and select to edit application from the dropdown. Their will be a field for the public name, which will change the text in the App's tab.
LindsayFL Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Hey Anthony, this app looks great. I was wondering if this would work along side something like Google Apps email. I had to change my MX records of my email once I was approved for my google apps account. Is there a way to use this along with my google apps account? I use google Apps for one of my email accounts. I'm not familiar with BouncyMail(yet) but with google apps, it's acutally the google mail servers that process your email. Due to this, the email piping normally used for things like bouncymail will not work, as the piping would have to be enabled on the google servers. But, google apps mail does allow you to enable the pop3 email settings (you can enable it from settings->Forwarding and POP/IMAP in your gmail account). You could then use the POP3 settings of your gmail account with bouncyMail to get your incoming email. Hope that helps.
Timberwolf1771 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Thank you LindsayFL. I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if you can get it to work, and I will give it a try myself and see if I can get it to work. The reason I wanted it, was to make it available for all my members on my forum.
Azoun Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Has this mod died a death as it doesn't seem to have been updated for quite some time?
AnthonyKinson Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 Has this mod died a death as it doesn't seem to have been updated for quite some time? Absolutely not. I've been spending a lot more time with my girlfriend as she's just been re-diagnosed with cancer so I don't have as much time to put out as many maintenance releases as I used to. A lot of progress has been made since the currently available Beta 2, I'm just waiting until a significant amount of work is done on it before putting out the next version because people tend to ask more questions and need more help when things change.

Wolfie Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hey dude, any updates on how your girlfriend is doing?
AnthonyKinson Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Hey dude, any updates on how your girlfriend is doing? She ended up having to have the Thoracotomy (whole lung removed). She's been sleeping alot since the op but seems to be recovering.
Wolfie Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Well that sucks (losing a whole lung). Hope she doesn't encounter any more problems.
Dylan0112 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 [img] [/img] i forgot to rename the group perms to Bouncy Mail from IP.Mail just checked too and it looks like the "can use IP.Mail" setting is not working. When Are You Hoping For A Release Date For Bouncy Mail? Thanks Great Application - Hopefully Should Be Very Useful :D
Tripp★ Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Firstly, amazing idea. So could I in theory allow my staff admin/mods send and receive emails from the forums? Or have I got what this addon is about wrong? Secondly, I'm sorry to read that about your girlfriend, how is she doing, is she okay now? And lastly, will this be made compatible with 3.2.x?
Wolfie Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Hey dude, last I recall you had some real life things going on and I hope things are going well for you. Any update on this, like when you might resume development?
Richard.C Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 you need to ask on his website or facebook as he left a message about not being able to use IPS marketplace due to T + C conflicts.
