Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Enkidu Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Hello users of IPB just been viewing the online users list and found some interesting entry: to be honest I'm not surprised as I still remember a few days back when I discovered that Google was replying to a topic in my board. Now is this a bug or feature
Ryan H. Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 If the Yahoo spider goes to the search page, it's going to be displayed as searching the board. Similarly, if the Googlebot goes to the "add reply" page [you have posting enabled somewhere for guests], it's going to be displayed as replying to a topic.
Michael Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Always remember, if you see a search engine spider doing something that you don't think they have permission to do, it typically means they are actually indexing an error page telling them they don't have permission to do whatever it was they were doing.

Yeah, that's true. I wish there were a way to change the messages being displayed about bots doing things like that. Something along the lines of "Google is being told to bugger off". ;)
I am Freddy G Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 hmm interesting what is he searching for?
