Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Der Kaiser Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Would be nice (albeit late in teh game here) to get more stats about posting and registration through the admin cp. things such as: - Comparing stats based on months - Posts per forum per hour/day/month - Traffic Timeline (showing peak usage times) Things that can help the adminstrtor zero in on the weaker parts of the forum they own, and work on building them up. I understand its not up to IPB to build my, or anyones site, but surely the more big boards you have, the better an endoresment for IPB it is. Currently i have 105,000 members, and 3,000,000 + posts, and know when the majority are around, or whaere they are posting, in relation to other forums or other months, would be a great help in figuring out where i should spend more time developing.
bfarber Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Traffic/visitor analysis would be entirely too resource intensive I'm afraid. That sort of thing is best left to the server level (and there are plenty of open source tools to do this), or something like google analytics. Most stats are already compared based on month in the ACP. Including posts per month (though not hour or day).
Der Kaiser Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 could "Posts per forum per month" not be added though, that seems like it would be a rather "easy" one to do (knowing fullwell nothing is ever easy when i saw this).
CSH Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I am sure someone could make a mod of some sort if IPB didn't do this. I personally wouldn't use it, but google analytic is only views etc? Not posts, no? But I get your drift by what you mean.
Der Kaiser Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 the admin cp doesnt show posts per forum. just posts per day. I would like to know which of my forums are more active than others. Its not rocket science, just brain surgery
Ryan H. Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Just glance at the index and see which has the most topics and replies.
Der Kaiser Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I have a forum of 103,000 members, 3,000,000 + posts, and 230 forums. Its not exactly a "just glance and figure it out" affair. ;)
Ryan H. Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hey, wow, me too! And yet, I can still see the forum stats. :)
Der Kaiser Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 you clearly decided to skip over what i said and assume things. thats cool. thanks for your riveting screenshot.
